Last nights Lunar Eclipse AND Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

Of course L and I were out for this. We traveled an hour to the East to try to beat the clouds which were going to move into the Utica area anytime. We did out run them, but they caught up a few hours later. Lucky for us we were able to catch some shots in-between the cloud cover.

Here are three images of the moon from this evening, near the bottom is one that L took last night:

At about 6:00PM just after the sun set, the moon came up from the horizon. The moon was very bright orange against the newly darkened sky:

As a major bonus there was a slight aurora borealis (northern lights) tonight about 45° to the north from the position of the moon.
